Nicki & Damion’s Home – Modern Boho
A young couple who had recently entered the housing market contacted me for style assistance in three areas of their new house.
The property was clean and tidy, recently painted, and ready for decoration. Introducing myself to the upstairs as stage one, this couple desired a light and bright Modern BOHO with little time to spare because they were expecting their first child.
We quickly scheduled an in-home consultation for x3 zones, and after generating a comprehensive brief, we got to work sourcing and designing the spaces, which comprised a lounge with entry enhancements, a master bedroom, and, of course, a nursery.
Upon entering the foyer, one is greeted by a landing on the staircase with a stunning, vaulted ceiling that shouted for a gorgeous pendant to be displayed with wallpaper from head to toe. We found and furnished the wallpaper and light, which established the tone for the BOHO STYLE.
Walking up one flight of stairs brings you to the lounge, which is long and narrow. To help balance the space and bring some intimacy into the TV area, I suggested we take up the back end for a small mudroom area where the couple and soon to be children could drop off bags, keys, sit and pop on shoes, and we included bench seating, storage, mirror, and all the elements a functional small entry mudroom required.
In front was a magnificent area now for lounge and buffet, which was anchored down and split up with floor rugs, establishing fake boundaries to each zone while remaining open to each other.
We updated the lighting, bedside tables, bedhead, and window treatments in the master suite.
The nursery was the most enjoyable place to design, and we included a large chest of drawers that transforms to a change table with shelves above. A floor lamp for soft lighting, wall art to add style, a rocking chair for practical reasons, and an oval rug to connect and draw all the elements together.
The couple now has a flawlessly decorated BOHO house that is not only beautiful but also functional for years to come. The house is airy, bright, and very soothing, which completely meets the brief.
