Peta & Bruce’s Home – Modern Scandi
After meeting with Peta and Bruce, we discussed in depth their design desires, which included a complete makeover of their family home after 20+ years of raising their three children.
This featured a kitchen remodel and extension, as well as new main, ensuite, and toilet upgrades. New laundry, painting, flooring, and hardware changes.
Following the completion of a thorough brief with us, we began redesigning the spaces and organising a detailed quotation to finish the works.
With two of the adult children still living at home, we needed to expand the kitchen. We closed in walls, windows, and made alterations to permit a butler’s pantry open to the new enlarged kitchen by pushing into an underutilised little dining room at one end.
To create this innovative design, key components such as sliding walls and shutting in structural windows to relocate to the right region were added.
In the main bathroom, we were able to include two basins and a wet space with a shower and bath side by side into the lower size footprint.
The ensuite was modest nevertheless we maximised every square inch of footprint by inverting the shape of the shower to take up the whole width of the room.
The laundry had served the family well, but with only a free-standing tub on one end, it was in serious need of an improvement. The new design incorporated an under-bench washing machine and dryer, a laundry hamper at one end with plenty of bench top space above, with upper cabinets to bring a solution to their storage needs. A colour palette like that of the kitchen was used here to ensure a consistent flow throughout the home.
To finish up the home, all hardware such as doorknobs, window treatments, and fans were replaced, as well as new vinyl flooring and painting.
Many years will now be spent in their house, which features sensible innovations and sophisticated finishes that will last the test of time.
